David Curtin was the Chief Disciplinary Counsel for the Rhode Island Supreme Court Disciplinary Board for some time and, as a result, is responsible, at least in part, for many of the complaints on the Rhode Island Supreme Court Disciplinary Board's page
Curtin is famous for his dismissing of complaints with the words, "we see no wrong doing." One of the reasons for this could be Curtin's statement in 2009 to Channel 12 news when he is quoted as saying, "When we become aware an attorney is involved in serious [attorney] misconduct, it becomes our primary goal to shut them down as soon as possible." SERIOUS attorney misconduct Mr. Curtin? How about disciplining them for attorney MISCONDUCT - 'serious' or not? See how the disciplinary board has been defining attorney misconduct by reading the board's page. Fasten your seat belt!
"People say how do you feel about lawyer jokes? And I tell them the next time you get in trouble call a comedian." - David Curtin, Chief Disciplinary Counsel for the Rhode Island Supreme Court Disciplinary Board quoted in an Eyewitness 12 News report in 2009. As an attorney himself, Curtin also said his role as chief disciplinary counsel can be a lonely one. "I don't get invited to the cocktail parties."
